Backtracking

Turns out the hard drive was bad. It died last night, despite a valliant week-long effort to survive. I’m picking up a new one after work, so hopefully tonight, I can be installed, restored, updated and ready to go. I have a ton of literally mission-critical work to get done ASAP, so I might not do the Linux thing for now. I just have too much to learn to get going efficiently and quickly. Enough nerd talk.

So the John Mayer show was a blast! It was at the Ford Amphitheater in Tampa, and we had lawn seats. We got there pretty early and staked out an outstanding little piece of grass right up against the front fence, so we had nothing obstructing our view. The sound was great. The only drawback was the weather. It was blazing hot and humid until the sun started to set, and then the skies opened up in a huge thunderstorm. We really had nowhere to go, so Lauren and I tucked our blanket under us and huddled under a rain poncho. The storm lasted through the last half of Ben Folds’ set and through the intermission, and cleared up just before John’s show.

The show itself was great. I was disappointed that he didn’t do a couple of my favorite songs, but the ones he did choose were wonderful. He played a 3-song encore, which is rare. All in all a wonderful show. I hope to see JM many more times in his career. Maybe he’ll be to me like my mom is with Dan Fogelberg. :) Anyway, we got to Keith’s house at about 1 AM, stayed up talking for a bit, and got a little bit of sleep. We left Tampa the next morning at 7:10 and headed back to Gainesville.

Gotta get to work… more later.

And how many of “your generation” know who Dan Fogelberg is besides you???? lol

How far is Gainesville from Tampa? I’m curious because we are going to be in Florida for 10 days starting Friday and my in-laws live in Tampa. Well, actually Brandon…which I think is on the north side of Tampa. :-)
Oh and I actually know who Dan Fogelberg is too! But I think you and I might be in a minority there! LOL

I knew I forgot something. Linux. If you need any help, I know Trevor won’t mind letting you pick his brain. He’s been using it for years.
